Testimonial From a Media Partner

Every local television station has to do the stories about crime; you have to cover the weather but you don't always get to tell the stories about the ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things; the unsung heroes; the people who are doing things in their community just because it's the right thing to do.

Kate Koch believes that every kid should have a bike, regardless of their family or home situation. Four years ago, this former foster parent set about to make it happen. Nicknamed “The Bike Lady,” Kate has given foster care children their own brand new bike. At first, she used her own money to buy bikes for Franklin County Children Services. Then she began working with local companies and community organizations to buy the bikes for kids in foster care, kinship homes, and low-income homes. Every year, she donates more than 300 new bikes to FCCS youth. In many cases, these bikes are the only way these youngsters have to get to school and/or work.
